“I am just a roadside attraction on your journey down life’s highway, a place you stop briefly before moving on. Years from now, in a long forgotten box of memories, you’ll come across one of my souvenirs and think of me. And maybe you’ll smile.”
                        BJ Neblett (8-2016)

“Every journey must proceed at its own pace, each step following the other in its proper order. For that is the way of life.”
Planet Alt-Sete-Nine by BJ Neblett (7-2016)

“It’s not what you see, but what you believe. It’s not what you fear, but what you trust. It’s not what you love, but the love you give.”
Princess Haylee from Princess Haylee by BJ Neblett (7-2016)

“It’s not what is said, it’s how it is spoken; it’s not what you write, it’s how it is written; it’s not what’s implied, it’s what’s inferred.”
BJ Neblett (from the essay Flash Fiction)

“You’ve got to have ice cream to write good romance.”

Writers and Writing by BJ Neblett

It's been a while and I've got something just a bit different for you this time. Last month I gave a talk on writing at the Ballard Library. Afterwards there was a Q&A period with many good questions. But again, the one question that seems to always come up was asked of me: What is the most important thing or quality a good writer needs to have?
While there are many correct answers, and I am sure every writer has their own, for myself, as well as other writers I have known, the following seems to be true:
"The two greatest assets a writer can have are an unbridled imagination and to have lived an unabashed life."
                                                                           All The Wrong Places
                                                                           BJ Neblett
Well, it works for me...
Hope it helps!
One final note. My forthcoming romance book Never Let A Vegetarian Pack Your Lunch (yes, romance) is in a contest for publication. You, my loyal readers, can help. Simply click the link to the right (well be for Feb 29, please) and scroll down to my book then click the heart to vote. They may ask for you to sign up. It's quick easy and painless. You can use a made up name and password if you like, no salesman will call, I promise!
Thanks for your help, it means a lot!
Keep writing! Remember:
"Words can never be invisible."

New Stories, New Magazine!

Hello again! While beautiful weather, softball and other outdoor activities are claiming a lot of my time these days, I nevertheless have been finding plenty of time as well as inspiration for my writing. Several new short stories are either in mind or in the works. A couple of new romance stories for Romance Magazine as well pieces for eFiction Magazine are coming up in the next few of months. But the big news for June is a new story being published in a new magazine. Paradox Ethereal Magazine is a free online publication exploring art, culture, romance and all things beautiful. It is an interesting, intriguing, well conceived and beautifully presented publication, available monthly for free download in either html or pdf formats. I have a short story in June's issue, which is slated to hit the internet about Monday, June 1st. I have included a direct link below. I hope you enjoy this offering as well as the entire magazine. Please be sure to leave comments here, as well as for the editors letting them know what you think. I am looking forward to a long association with Paradox Ethereal Magazine as well as continuing to publish stories in Romance and eFiction Magazine. As always, I will continue to keep you posted on new releases right here.
Thanks for your continued support and comments. Look for a new short story as well as new poetry published right here. See you on the softball fields and at the Mariners/Tampa Bay games this weekend!
Peace,
BJ
